Mee Yean Chin - Artist of the Month
Manatee County Cultural Alliance Gallery
May 3 - 31, 2013
In celebration of Asian Heritage Month, Mee Yean Chin is the featured artist at the Manatee County Cultural Alliance Solo Gallery May 3-31, both exbiting and demonstrating the oriental art of Origami.
A native of Boston, she spent several years living aboard a hand-built 45 foot sailboat in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Island, before returning to the mainland. She now lives in Bradenton, and has participated in the Powel Crosley Estate Festival of the Trees, winning the Poeple's Choice Award in 2011 for her 275-origami ornamented tree. Many of these ornaments will be for sale at her MCCA show.
A reception for Mee Yean will be held Friday, May 3rd 6-9 pm, coinciding with the Village of the Arts First Friday Artwalk. Both Friday, and Saturday, May 5, she will be demonstrating her Origami at the Gallery
